Noop is growing and our small team needs to keep our systems ridiculously organized to manage everything well. Success will be invisible to our users.
Groundwork for Scale and Security
As Noop grows, our ability to manage the underlying infrastructure becomes more complicated. We are a small team and our infrastructure footprint is large and getting larger, which means our systems and processes for managing that infrastructure need to be ridiculously efficient.
In the past month we decided it was time to make changes that would enable us to operate more efficiently and more securely to anticipate greater scale. One such change is how we organize our own AWS accounts. Recent changes give us greater isolation of our major system components making it less effort to observe potential issues, and more restrictive for administrative access.
We don’t anticipate any service interruptions throughout the project, success for us will be nothing noticed by you.
For those interested in managing large scale infrastructure systems, it’s a fascinating project. I hope we’re able to do a writeup once we’ve settled on the approach and completed the work.
